At ConsuMio, we take user privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and protected when you use the ConsuMio mobile application (the “App”).
1. Information we collect
Consumio is built on a data minimization principle. We do not request personally identifiable information.
1.1 Information you provide
The App lets you record food-related information, including:
- Product name
- Purchase date
- Expiration date
- Category and location (e.g., fridge, freezer, pantry)
- Product photos (optional)
- Scanned barcodes (optional)
- Shopping lists
- Favorite supermarkets/stores
This information does not personally identify you.
2. Device permissions
Consumio may request the following permissions, always transparently and optionally:
2.1 Camera
- To scan barcodes.
- To take photos of items.
2.2 Photo library
- To select existing images from your device.
2.3 Notifications
- To send reminders for upcoming expiration dates.
- To send shopping-list related alerts.
2.4 Location
Consumio may request access to your device location solely to provide an optional convenience feature:
- Let you save favorite supermarkets/stores.
- Detect when you are near one of those saved stores.
- Send a shopping list notification so you remember to buy what you are missing.
Important conditions
- Location access is fully optional.
- You can enable or disable this feature at any time from the App settings.
- Consumio does not store location history.
- Location data is not shared with third parties and is not sent to external servers.
- Location is used only to check proximity to stores you saved.
3. How we use information
Information recorded in Consumio is used only to:
- Manage and display items and their expiration dates.
- Sort items by urgency.
- Send reminders and notifications.
- Manage shopping lists.
- Send contextual alerts when you are near a favorite store (if enabled).
Consumio does not use data for advertising or commercial profiling.
4. Data storage
- All data is stored locally on your device (via a SQLite database).
- Consumio does not send or sync data to external servers.
- No cloud backup is performed in the current version.
You remain in full control of your information.
5. Data sharing
Consumio does not share data with third parties. We do not sell, rent, or disclose your information to advertisers, marketing platforms, or other entities.
6. Data deletion
You can:
- Delete items, shopping lists, and saved stores within the App.
- Delete all data by uninstalling the App.
Because data is stored only on your device, deletion is immediate and permanent.
7. Security
Consumio applies reasonable measures to protect locally stored information. Final security also depends on your device operating system and your own device protection practices.
8. Children’s privacy
Consumio is not specifically directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
10. Cookie Policy
Consumio is committed to respecting your privacy to the highest level. Therefore:
- We do not use cookies (neither first-party nor third-party).
- We do not track your browsing behavior.
- We do not store data in your browser beyond the temporary memory necessary for the technical operation of the current session.
